They perform on Sunday Afternoons at the cafe bistro next door to the BB House Inn, where my window overlooks the very popular Sandbar By The Sea restaurant. I get to hear excellent nightly live entertainment for free! Now that it’s off season, the room has dropped from $23 to $16.50 a night, and is right on beautiful, quiet, Dongtan Beach, Thailand. Forty Baht Chicken Stall Behind 7-Eleven. For just a little scratch, you get a juicy tender portion of simmered Chicken over rice, cucumber slices and garnishes, a bowl of broth, and a special fresh made sweet ginger hot sauce. Ice water is free. They have simmered chicken, fried and battered, and also chicken noodle soup. The old guy has been in that spot for years, always busy. Ten-ish in the morning till 3-ish in the afternoon, sooner when they run out of chicken. Crispy Fried Baby Frog. From the popular street vendor who hangs out in the Jomtien Complex at around 11 pm most nights. If you see him, jump on it because he moves around and doesn’t stay long in one spot. These deep fried to a crisp critters go well with the fried grasshoppers. Fried Grasshoppers. These are pre-fried, sitting in a food cart in the Jomtien Complex. You order 20, 30, 40 or more baht worth, he takes the appropriate handful and flash fries them in a deep fryer.
