San Francisco January 12, 2013 :: Stalwarts from the SF gay nightlife scene, from as far back as the era of the House of Fish, flew in from around the USA to roast Timmy Spence on his 60th Birthday. The perpetual teenager trapped in a senior citizen’s body has been performing in the Bay Area since the 70’s, and has been a Trannyshack regular since it’t beginning in the 90’s. A true survivor with more than nine lives, he has fought and beaten AIDS when most from that time have not. Heklina, founder and creator of Trannyshack, joined cult movie actress and drag diva Peaches Christ, and co-hosted a full tilt evening of roastings, performances, drinking and dancing at Rebel nightclub in San Francisco. Miss X flew in from Los Angeles, and Miss Darlin, aka South Vanessa, flew all the way from Providence, RI to roast their long time pal. Ethel Merman of EMX (the Ethel Merman Experience), destroyed the place with her version of Timmy’s favorite: “Highway to Hell”. Other notable attendees: Arturo Galstar, starring currently in the stage production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”; David Neymoytan, event producer and former head of the Magda Mafia; Mark Kleim of Lavender Lounge, Heavy Metal Hole in the Wall dj Don Baird; Drag King promoter Fudgie Frottage; designer Eddie Valentine; Lady Bear; Sue Madigan; Portia 666; Darcy Drollinger; Ric Ray, Holy McGrail, and way too many more VIPs to mention came to show their love for one of San Francisco’s unique and famous characters.
