Now, I sit in my tiny rent controlled apartment, sitting in the dark, sipping on a beer or an Inglenook merlot. I listen to this and the Grace Jones version and the Edith Piaf version, and reminisce on my life in San Francisco as a nightclub paparazzo, and cackle.

I remember the times more than 35 years ago, listening to the same music, wishing there was more to life.  And glad I did something about it.  San Francisco has been very good to me, and you never know, I may still hit New York City before it’s all over and done with.

I would sit in the dark, sip on a beer or a Boone’s Farm, listen to Grace Jones, and dream of someday moving to New York and becoming a part of the avante-garde…

She performed this song two years later at the Queen’s big birthday celebration. In both performances, she performed the entire song without dropping her hula hoop.  

I have a few more years to practice, but man! I hope I’m that good when I hit age 64…
