But, You’re Not Gay, Are You? SF Pride 2012

This gorgeous man was walking arm-in-arm with an attractive lady friend at gay pride 2012.

There were several other women with them, so I asked the entire group if they would pose for a snapshot.

The women were delighted, and quite rambunctious if not inebriated.

After about a dozen shots, I summoned the nerve to ask “the handsome man” for a few more shots by himself.

Only briefly hesitant, he stepped right up to the challenge, his rowdy posse cheering him on.

He put his hat and sunglasses on, but I guess that wasn’t what I was focusing on.

This image is heavily altered. I had almost as much fun manipulating it as when I originally took the photo.

You can see the original unaltered version, and hundreds more like him in my virtual gallery:

Hot coffee with a shot of Bailey’s. Perfect for a cold damp day in downtown San Francisco. Iron Horse Coffee, hidden on Maiden Lane, turns into a bar at 4:30 pm. There’s a cute, flirty young man behind the counter.

Two women sitting close by talking non stop. Networking and mentoring in the high pressure advertising industry. Oh my god, dishy office politics, sprinkled with lots of tech jargon and new-age workplace speak.

After they depart, a few moments of quiet relief. But then the cutie-pie flirty barrister blasted the silence with some loud, edgy, IDM.

“Intelligent Dance Music”, for your information, is supposedly all kinds of electronic club dance music remixed with ambient and intended for home listening. I Googled it.

“Army Of Fear” by Lorn, is what I was serenaded by. It grows on you after a bit, it’s got a nice beat, I’m adding it to my YouTube playlist. I pride myself on keeping up with the kids these days and all their new musical trends.

A “Modern Spiritual”!

From Wikipedia:

The single, “One Toke Over the Line,” by American folk rock duo Brewer & Shipley peaked at #10 (#5 in Canada) and was the group’s biggest hit. Spiro Agnew said the song with its reference to marijuana use was “blatant drug-culture propaganda” that “threatens to sap our national strength.”

Mike Brewer can give this account of the origin of the song, “One day we were pretty much stoned and all and Tom says, “Man, I’m one toke over the line tonight.” I liked the way that sounded and so I wrote a song around it.”[4]

A cover version was performed by Gail Farrell and Dick Dale on The Lawrence Welk Show, which billed it a ”modern spiritual.“[5] The song is notably mentioned in the opening of Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and was notably “sung” by Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro) in the film of the same name.
